Outdoor Colors

Lilly, X, and Maggie went to Girls Camp.

We've had some really funky weather this summer.
Lots of thunder and lightning storms.
There have been some wildfires in Central WA, so there's been smoke too.

One night there was a surreal orange glow outside.
It was like putting on orange or red sunglasses as soon as you stepped off the covered porch.
(These pictures are not altered in color.  Our house is typically a light brown, latte color, with cream trim)

The colored hues brought out our strangeness.

Several nights, we've woken up to some amazing and spectacular thunder and lightning storms.
It's usually dry and hot all summer.
This year, it's been humid and hot.  It feels like Florida all the time.
It's fun to see and hear lightning and thunder storms, but not so good for the fires.

Last week on one of the big stormy nights, the rain was like a monsoon when it came.
We were out watching the lightning and we could hear the rush of the rain while it was coming, and it sounded like a huge mudslide coming toward us...but we're in the middle of a not-so-mudslide area!
The sound was so scary though, that my instinct was to run inside and hide.
But, it was a wall of hardcore rain.

We made some yummy green sauce, chili verde.
It is Virginia's recipe, and is soo good when we can make it.
The only thing it was missing this time was kick.
Hopefully next time I'll be able to find more spicy jalapenos.

VIRGINIA'S CHILE VERDE
1/2 or whole bunch of cilantro
1 lb. tomatilloes
4 medium garlic
3 or 4 jalapenos (look for lines, more lines mean more spicy!)
salt to taste

Cook tomatilloes in a little bit of water (1/2 - 1 cup) and boil for a little while (15 minutes).
Cool for a few hours.
Blend all ingredients together, and enjoy!
These pictures don't do the pretty green justice!
My friend's baby shower was last week, and I got to do some decorations.
We had tulle puff balls, yarn balls, and a banner of triangles of great paper.
I just took a giant leap of faith and put my blood pressure medicine and my iron supplements in the cupboard instead of my purse.
First time in 3 1/2 years they've been out of that purse.  Last time I went to Seattle without them was with Anthony in an ambulance.  I don't think I'll need to do that again!
Kelly got her first official paycheck!
Anthony was doing his imitation of Josh's pushups.
 ...and sabotaging Josh's pushups.
Josh in all his muscular glory.

Anthony loves to just stand by Penny, wrap his arm around her, and watch neighbors or cars with her.

 Some of our pretty peaches!
Gotta bring Mickey and Buzz outside in our undies.....
