The Hike

Josh and Daniel have had the best Scout leader for the past several years, and for Daniel, his whole Scout career.

They have been on countless hikes, from just a few hours to just about a week long.

Last month, Andy actually was able to come along on a 3-day hike with Josh.

I would show more pictures with the boys, but I don't feel comfortable adding other people's kids on the blog too often.

Maggie found a recipe for pie.

She'd been wanting to make pie for a while, and kept looking at different recipes online.

Finally, she started making this.

I was in the front room, and she'd ask where the graham crackers were, where was the cocoa powder, and where other ingredients were.  

I heard her say something about the meringue, so I thought she was making a chocolate meringue pie.

Nooooooo......a S'Mores pie!!

The meringue tasted like marshmallows, and it was sooo good! 

All of it!

 Anthony had fun when our friend went into labor a few days before she was supposed to (scheduled c-section), and so her 3 boys came over to play the next morning.

They're friends of his, but also like brothers to him.  :)

 My visiting teacher from church brought some brownies over, still WARM!!!!

I had been quilting, and they disappeared so fast!

 This is the final dose of any kind of medicine related to chemotherapy for Anthony.

While Anthony had chemo in his system, he had to have a prophylactic dose of antibiotic on Mondays and Tuesdays.  

This was to help his body fight infection that our immune systems can typically fight, but a cancer patient cannot.

So, after he had his last dose of chemo in April, Anthony still needed to take antibiotics for 3 more months.

He is officially DONE with chemotherapy, DONE with related medications, and DONE needing to be so protected!

(*although we will still be careful with his smaller airways*)

 We went to visit Grandpa and Grandma and went to see the temple in July.

Anthony was trying to jump into the decorative waterfall.

We saw a couple that was just married, and he kept calling the bride a "printheth!!" (princess)

Playing Around

Josh and Kelly participated in Trek earlier this summer.

We went to a special program in July to see the video made there.

It was pretty cool!

After the program, we went to the church field so the kids could get some energy out.

(especially Anthony!)

This is how Anthony was sleeping at Nana's.

Looks kinda uncomfortable.

Just kinda.

 While we waited for Anthony's eyes to dilate, we got to be in the more private family waiting room, with dim lights.

Lilly kept busy with the white board.

Anthony was watching a movie on the big screen tv.

 Maggie colored.

 After arriving back home, we had a few days of Anthony puking in my bed.

We bleached sheets a few times.

I love being able to dry sheets and towels in the summertime air!

 My tomatoes started to really grow in the middle of July.

 Just one of our REALLY tall sunflower plants that volunteered from past years' seeds.

 Maggie made a delicious bundt cake.

Kelly had helped a friend with their yard sale, and we bought a bundt cake pan from it.

Maggie was so excited that she looked up something to make in it right away.

 The cooking spray didn't help the cake come out right.

We'll have to learn this again.

But, it was yummy.

 Maggie and Lilly made purple waffles.

Andy and Lilly

Andy and Lilly went to Tacoma a day before the rest of us went to Seattle.

He drove her to 5-mile drive at Point Defiance.

 Mt. Rainier is so big and pretty!

After Pt Defiance, Andy drove Lilly to the Brown & Haley factory.  

They are the makers of Almond Roca.  Yummm!

The factory store is so dangerous to go into.  

There are almond roca candies that have been wrapped incorrectly, and so they are marked way cheap.

We had yummy chocolates and candies for a week afterwards.
