Auntie Jenny's dad came to visit this afternoon!!
He came bearing gifts for Anthony and me.
Namely, WOODY. :)
Anthony's still grumpy from not feeling good, so he hasn't totally warmed up to having Woody right next to him, but Woody's in the crib.
He sat right up and had a look of extreme curiosity when J's dad got Woody out of the bag.
Surgical team showed up while Jenny's dad was here. They looked at Anthony's incision and drainage tube, and declared it to look great! It would be best to let it be exposed to air (no gauze dressing), but Anthony would likely try to pull the tubes out, so it's covered again.
During rounds this morning, the Resident doctor showed the Attending doctor Anthony's red dots all over his body. They appeared within an hour of arriving here yesterday, and are everywhere on his body.
Evidently, when a patient has an infection in their central line for so long, the infection can get in the heart, and then travel throughout the patient's body in the capillaries. So, they ordered an echo (ultrasound of the heart) for today.
To keep Anthony still during the echo, I turned on.....you guessed it...Toy Story 3. He is just glued to that screen.
Afterwards, worried that I'm ruining Anthony's brilliant mind by allowing him to watch movies a couple times a day, I ran down to the playroom to get some toys. Usually there are only a few that have been sanitized, and they are usually missing several pieces. This time, there were a BUNCH!!
I grabbed about 6 different toys that Anthony normally plays with during therapy. :)
He got excited when I walked in the door with my arms full of colorful toys.
Anthony played for about 10 minutes, maybe 15 before getting wiped out.
He just spiked another fever, this time only 4 hours EXACTLY since the last.
His poor little body is just fighting so hard.
Anthony is still needing oxygen again when sleeping (remember how we just turned our rented oxygen machinery back in on Friday), but not his whole sleep time.
I had originally thought we would be at the Wenatchee hospital for longer, so I sent Andy home with my laundry, and he had brought in clothes that were still on the dresser.
So, I have a hodgepodge of clothing again. :S
This is what I did laundry in last night.
Plaid bright green shirt, floral teal pants, Christmas socks, and my slippers.
Funny thing is, is that everyone here understands and is not perfectly put together either.
Be so very grateful you aren't in this place, for the obvious reason of not wanting your child to be ill or injured, but also for fashion reasons!
The nurse and I are operating on the assumption that no news is good news, at least until we hear otherwise. Sounds like a plan to me.
I'll update if anything else comes up.
Oh, if Anthony did have the infection in his heart, he would need treatment for a longer period of time. This is not a great thing, but the doctors did not act like it would be a huge, major problem...
p.p.s. the other special visitors today were all the Disney princesses! They came to visit a lot of little girls on the cancer floor, and made their day. So sweet. :)
My friends think we should get Toy Story characters to come visit Anthony...we'll see about that.

Of course, Buzz and Woody would make Jax day! We have talked about a port for Jax, but my ped says no way, because of infection risks! Praying your home soon, and no clots! Jax clotted off his SVC, and it cause major problems!
