We didn't get a chance to go on the tour of the cave at the campground the day we arrived.
So, we went before leaving the following day.
It was really cool!

I liked the design of the picnic shelters.
There were several rest stops that were boring, but some were more decorative.

The flowers were so pretty and tropical, the kind we can only buy and keep indoors in Washington.
And, to keep those flowers growing, it was very humid.
Lilly worked on Maggie's hair after seeing an idea online.
During the trip, about once a day or so, we'd set up a wifi hotspot in the car.
That way, the kids could get their fix, and we got a few minutes of peace.
Pretty flowers at the temple in Birmingham, AL.

rest stop, Southern style!
Anthony loves his cousin, Sarah!
Aunt Yahnira had bought a TON of food to feed us all.
We all miscommunicated and she thought we were coming several days before and were staying the week...
She bought some colored cake mixes that she and the girls made cake mix cookies with.
To make whoopie cakes.
They were so yummy!
Kelly twisted her ankle again so she iced it as soon as we got in to Gary and Yahnira's.

The finished desserts.
Everyone had so much fun, inside and outside!

The crystals looked like a big hunk of salt.
Cicadas are so loud!
They're huge and creepy too. This picture doesn't do it justice.
Probably the size of my thumb.
Aunt Margie and her crew arrived as we returned from a long walk around Yahnira's neighborhood.
We saw frogs, a huge, black spider, cicadas, and so many more bugs.
And then, I got to meet Yahnira's friend who is from Louisville.
With her awesome accent, she pronounces is "loo-ville."
We started noticing the southern accents in Kentucky.
Because we were listening to books on cd, read with a British accent, I felt like the Southern accents were missing their British tint.
And, Kelly will deny it, but I felt like I instantly had somewhat of a Southern drawl for a few days.
Cousins!!!!
