2014 Epic Road Trip -- August 3

Sunday we went to church with Uncle Gary and Aunt Yahnira's family.

All the cousins (who were there...)

Maggie and Janice are twin cousins, born just weeks apart.
We used to take pictures when they were tiny, to do size comparisons.
Grace, Gary, and Kelly are triplet cousins, born within weeks of each other.
 Margie's family
Anthony reaching out to cousin Gary.
 Gary's family
All of us, except Sam and Michele.
They left early that morning or the night before.

After church, we started the drive toward the beach.
It seemed like forever even though it only took about 3 hours to drive that far.

 MISSISSIPPI

It was raining so hard on our drive south.  Then, there was thunder and lightning.  It had the same atmosphere as when we went to Florida a couple years ago.
We were planning to camp near the beaches.  Not with lightning!
So, we found Days Inn in Gulfport, Mississippi.  It was a good price, but not good enough for the quality.
The deadbolt knob was falling off and there were questionable people in the parking lot, plus the rooms really needed updating.  It felt sketchy and like we were in the ghetto.  I told the girls not to go anywhere alone.  I told them that the whole trip, but really emphasized it here.

Andy kept looking for alligators.  He saw one in a marsh-type area off the freeway.  And, he saw a lot of armadillo road kill.  My dad saw a postcard with armadillos on it, saying that they're the speed bumps of the south.
