I read a fascinating book a few months back, about an American heiress, Hughette Clark.
Empty Mansions: The Mysterious Life of Hughette Clark and the Spending of a Great American Fortune, by Bill Dedman and Paul Clark Newell, Jr.
I knew that her father had this mansion built in Butte, so we went to explore.
This wall had such a neat texture, and I don't know how to describe it!
It wasn't like regular plaster or sheetrock or anything like that...more like a vinyl record plastered over and over all over the wall.
The trim on the walls was 3-dimensional, and so pretty!
The whole mansion was beautiful, but so dark.
If I had a large fortune, I'd still build with a lot of light.
The hinges on the door were made to match the doorknob surrounds.
Josh's Scout troop went on a big hike the week before our trip.
They had to go near Canada because the more local hike was surrounded by wildfire.
Josh didn't wear sunblock, and so had a peeling burn by this day.
It looked so gross, but soooo much better than his cousin, Richard's, Scout troop.
They climbed Mt. Adams without wearing sunscreen, and their faces were so sunburnt, they were 2nd degree and blistering and so painful-looking.
I love architecture and detail on buildings!

I loved how they had the seats for toddlers to sit in so they can be safe while you go.
Anthony fit, but was too tall.

We started noticing in Idaho, and later in Utah, that communities had huge letters on the hillside, representing their pride.

Anthony loved the Christus statue at the Visitor's Center.
While visiting, a missionary was telling us about a Primary he and his wife help with.
It's called SNAP--Special Needs Adult Primary.
They meet on Mondays and have over 200 people with special needs who come!
People come from as far away as 2 hours sometimes!
They have music time, sharing time, and a lesson on a skill.
Transportation groups just bring all these adults and let them be spiritually fed.
I love it!
It was time to go and Anthony didn't want to leave.

We drove into Idaho Falls and saw this duck at a business.
Huge.
UTAH
First time in all our lives that we have been to Utah.
Before the end of the trip, we went to/through Utah 3 times.
Brigham City, Utah Temple
This was the first really huge temple we saw.
Gorgeous!
We had a missionary serve in our ward, from Utah.
He had a rap he created about Del Taco.
We'd never heard of the place, so when we saw one, we had to have dinner there.
Kelly developed some weird swelling and discoloration below her eye.
It lasted a couple days, but did go away.
We got to Salt Lake City a couple hours before bedtime.
We knew we'd only have a couple hours there the next day, so we took advantage of the hour or so before Temple Square would close.
We hiked walked uphill several blocks and saw our second huge temple.
Awe-inspiring!

The shopping center across the street had fountains that danced to music.
Amazing!
I didn't want to mess with taking off Anthony shoes, orthotics, and socks.
But he would have LOVED being in this one!

It was gorgeous, clean, and had great service.
We loved the architecture, history of the building, and the antique furnishings.
The hotel was going up for auction later in August.
